From: Tony Belding Date: Sun Oct 14, 2001 07:48:01 AM US/Central To: snout@ctrl-c.liu.se Subject: A Serious Problem I need to discuss with you something very serious. Winged has one again removed my character from SPR. Worse, he sent a slanderous latter to my ISP in which he falsely claimed that I had committed "flagrant and repeated violations of the rules that we set forth for the use of this service". Being unfairly banned is bad enough, but when a SPR wizard writes to my ISP making such false statements, that is treading into the realm of a legally actionable offense. I'm sure you are well aware that I have never violated SPR's rules. As far as I can tell, every supposed offense that I was accused of on SPR was either something I did not actually do (such as stealing Arian's code or harassing him) or something that was not actually against SPR's rules (such as speaking out against the wizard abuses). If you allow Winged to slander people in the name of administrating SPR, you may be opening both yourself and SPR's host site to legal liability. I also want to make this point: I did not 'hack' into SPR in any way, nor attempt to hide my identity. I requested a character from a helpstaffer in the normal way, using my same name and address as before. During the time I was on SPR, nobody I met -- including yourself -- voiced any objections to my presense. I met a lot of my old friends, they were happy to hear from me. I did not cause any trouble, nor violate any rules. Of the hundreds of players who use SPR, it appears only a couple object to me being there -- for reasons still unclear to me -- but since they happen to be wizards, they get their way. This is grossly unfair, and I will never stop protesting it. -- Tony Belding (aka Zinn)
